August 12, 2012 will be marked as the final day of 2012 Olympic in London when closing ceremony will be hosted by the city in front of millions of people across the globe. The closing ceremony is marked by handover to the next host city. During the ceremony the next host is also expected to invite peoples to their city during next Olympic. The Closing Ceremony also features the extinguishing of the Olympic Flame, signaling the end of the Games. The opening and closing ceremony are considered as two days to showcase the real talent of host city. The opening ceremony of London Olympics was a marred by criticism. Now the host is prepared to bid a perfect farewell to the game, athletes, viewers and of course an splendid treat to the hawk eyes of media. The Closing Ceremony will provide an opportunity for the world to view the artistic expression of Artistic Director Kim Gavin, his team and the culture of our Host City and the UK. As with the Opening Ceremony, there are certain elements that must feature as outlined in the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Charter. The artistic performance of the Ceremony then gets underway and celebrates the success of the Games.
The ceremony is certainly going to be a music festival. The opening one-hour section of the show is entitled A Symphony of British Music and features a mix of British music down the ages, curated by the ceremony's musical director, David Arnold. The Who, Ray Davies, George Michael, Muse, Ed Sheeran, Jessie J, The Pet Shop Boys, Annie Lennox and Fatboy Slim are among those expected to appear, though Gavin said 36 hours before the show begins that the lineup had not been finalised. Spice Girls are reuniting for a nostalgic blast of "Girl Power", performing at the main Olympic Stadium from on top of London's distinctive black taxis. They, along with Jessie J, Tinie Tempah, Queen guitarist Brian May, Annie Lennox and George Michael, have all been photographed rehearsing at the Ford car plant in East London's Dagenham, while Muse and Ed Sheeran revealed they will sing. The director said the plaudits heaped on Boyle's £27m opening ceremony and the success of the Games themselves had doubled the pressure, and the biggest difficulty would be installing the set in the 17-hour window after the final athletics event. The mega stage will feature London landmark, British comedy and fashion. After speeches from Lord Coe, chairman of the London 2012 organising committee, and Jacques Rogge, the International Olympic Committee president, the Olympic flame, in the form of a giant flower made up of 204 copper "petals" representing the nations taking part, will be extinguished to symbolise the end of London 2012. The Paralympic Games, which have broken ticket sales records with 2.1 million sold so far, will run from August 29 to September 9.
