In another attack on the sovereignty, Chinese troops intruded into the Chumar sector in Ladakh–the same region which had sparked off tensions in April–and demolished some bunkers besides cutting wires of cameras installed at the border post.

The Public Liberation Army(PLA) continued to spike into the "good political atmosphere". Despite assurance of friendly cooperation from PLA, China continues to blast away from its goodwill gesture.
The Chumar post have been bone of contention between the mighty neighbors after the Chinese troops intruded 19 km in the Indian territory in the Depsang Bulge area of the Daulat Beg Oldi (DBO) sector in April-May causing 21 day military face-off.
Although Chumar region is some 250-km south of DBO, Indian observation posts and surveillance cameras installed there have for long irritated the PLA since they can "intrude" into Chinese territory and track troop movements there.
According to the sources, the PLA patrol in Chumar sector in southern Ladakh June 17 took away a camera placed about 6 km ahead of an Indian Army post. The camera was returned only on July 3 after the Indian Army-ITBP team lodged a strong protest during a flag meeting at Spanggur Gap in Chushul sector.
